Welcome to The Friends of St Eadburgha's

St Eadburgha's Church is Broadway's only Grade 1 listed building and it can be found about one mile outside the village on Snowshill Road. The building and churchyard are the responsibility of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) based at St Michael and All Angels, which was built in 1840. Since then, St Eadburgha's fell into disrepair until, in 1916, substantial repair work was carried out, including a new roof.

The Tower dates from the 14th century and the current bells date from the 17th century. It is said that a former peal of bells, which was removed and buried by monks from Pershore Abbey during the Dissolution, owed their sweet tone to the silver that was added to the melt during manufacture. Alas, their burial place has never been found.

The Friends

In 1969, The Friends of St Eadburgha's was established as a charity with the object of assisting in the care and preservation of the Church and Churchyard. To meet the ongoing needs, the Friends contribute funding to the PCC. Recent projects have been new oak pews following the flood in 2007 and a new organ in 2019.

There is a small team of volunteer cleaners, gardeners and flower arrangers who give generously of their time to ensure that the Church and grounds are ready for the many visitors we receive from all over the world.

New volunteers are always needed and will be made most welcome. Why not come and meet the team any Thursday at 10.30?
